The pst file (Personal Storage Table) is a special file in Outlook that stores all of your email messages, addresses, tasks, calendar appointments, etc. If your Outlook PST file is showing an error or it becomes corrupted you will need to use the PST repair tool, available below, to scan and repair the pst file. If when you press Send/Receive in Outlook and receive no errors, then the problem should be resolved.

Please be aware that if you do not attempt to repair PST files immediately, could result in the permanent loss of all email messages, contact details and other personal items.

For instance, you may have received the following Outlook error codes;

Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. Errors could have been detected in the file drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool.

The file path shown above will be different depending on your computer's operating system.

You can repair PST files with either Outlooks inbuilt inbox repair tool or a third party PST repair tool program.
